I have a lovely little school in downtown Pensacola that is currently a little Montessori program that has been successful for 6 years (additionally was a Montessori school prior 7 years so has been a Montessori school at that location for 13 years). The classroom is full of wooden shelves, tables, chairs and hands on materials for children.
Our director had a bad fall last summer and we almost shut the school down (made the announcement to parents etc)-she is looking to retire (or semi retire at least) after this year and I live in Mobile. It has been a sweet offering for the community and it would be sad to see it close, but I am unable to relocate to make it what it once was again.
I would love to see it stay a Montessori school-or some other hands on, follow the child/academic program and or turning into more of an arts and music studio for children. When I first opened I dreamed up more of an enrichment center doing art, music, science, play based afterschool programs to complement our program, but we were stressful as a Montessori stand alone program and I could not find the right staff to add in the other elements so it never materialized.
I would like to partner with a teacher/director who would like to run independent summer camps over the summer, start some afterschool programs this year and possibly evening/weekend classes to the community in art, science, music classes etc and for the right fit to go ahead and start programs during the day. If available during the daytime will also consider using the space for a wonderful homeschool application or a daycare program with an educational/follow the child purpose (such as reggio, waldorf, montessori etc). I have most of the supplies and materials as well as the location, looking for someone to independently establish and run the program for an equal 50/50 partnership.
For this to work:
Must be hands on and engaging.
Must love children.
Must be able to pass all moral and legal background screenings.
Must have a strong vision. Must have good work ethics and not need to be micromanaged.
Must have a follow the child approach.
Must be very reliable. Must have a good standing in the community.
Must have open availability and desire to work and have open availability and willingness to do what it takes to get it off the ground.
Please let me know if you would like to talk further - Please not I am not interested in a "daycare" only style. I want someone who will run this program with their heart and put the children first and not just be about making as much money as possible. As a side note: there used to be a music school around the corner for years-my location is much more visible and would make a terrific location for said offering either in the evenings and weekends or integrated into the program.
If you have ever wanted to start a program for children this is a risk free way that would only take your time and passion to build it into something wonderful.
